How Many Strollers Do You Need?

There are many types of strollers on the market, and each has a different purpose. Do you need all of them? How many strollers are enough for all your needs? Can you go through with just one stroller?

Let's find out how many strollers you need and what factors determine the decision.

But, first, here is a brief overview of all stroller types.

Stroller Types

Here are their basic properties of primary stroller types and styles.

  • Full-Size Stroller. The full-size stroller is practical and it works from birth because the seat fully reclines. You can continue using it for a couple of years, which is a plus. The downside is that it is bulky and heavier than some other models.

  • Umbrella Stroller. Umbrella strollers are lightweight, easy to fold and can be used from three months of age. It might not be the best solution for rough terrains, but it will do well in the park or moll.

  • Jogging Stroller. Jogging strollers have a different brake system that ensures better stroller control. They have three air-filled tires that allow you to exercise while keeping your baby comfortable.

  • Travel System. The travel system consists of a stroller and a car seat, and some other accessories. Often, you get a better price if you buy a travel system, than a separate stroller and a car seat.

  • Car Seat Carrier. A car seat carrier is a stroller frame, in which you can put the suitable car seat and build your stroller like that. It is practical for parents who don't have a lot of space for storage, but you are limited with compatible frames and seats.

How Many Strollers are Enough?

Now when you know more about different stroller types, let's see how to decide. The answer mostly depends on your lifestyle, your habits, space, and budget. Also, if you are looking for a stroller to use from birth, remember that it needs to recline fully to be safe for newborn use.

One Stroller

If you need a stroller for everyday walks, shopping and you don't mind using a bulkier item, you can go through with only one standard, full-size stroller. But, to go with one stroller, you'll need to have a car with a larger trunk to store it, and plenty of space in the home for storage. Also, buy a stroller with all-terrain wheels to be ready for all locations. Commonly, full-size strollers aren't compliant with airplane stroller policies, so if you plan to travel by airplane, one stroller might not be enough.

Two Strollers

Most parents will find that having two strollers is most practical. You can get one full-size stroller, a travel system, or a car seat carrier for long walks, napping in the stroller and maximum comfort; and an umbrella stroller for travel and quick rides.

Umbrella strollers aren't as comfortable as some other types of strollers, but they are the most practical. Some of them are Disney World and airplane policies compliant, which gives you plenty of travel opportunities.

Three Strollers

In general, having three strollers seem unnecessary, unless you are a runner. Jogger strollers have bike wheels and aren't as practical as umbrella strollers for everyday activities, but they allow you to stay in shape post-partum.

Even though you can use them for both jogging and walking, your baby might not be comfortable spending a lot of hours in a jogger stroller.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are still unsure how many strollers you need, please check the following section. Hopefully, you’ll get some questions clarified.

Can You Jog With An Umbrella Stroller?

Are Jogger Strollers Good For Everyday Use?

Jogger strollers can be used for everyday activities with your baby. They might not have enough storage space like some other stroller types.

How Long Do Kids Use Strollers?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that babies stop using strollers at the age of three. But, most parents continue to use a stroller until their child is at least four.

What Stroller Is Allowed At Disney World?

The maximum size for strollers allowed in Disney World is 31 x 52 inches, and stroller wagons are forbidden.
