Ideas for Connection Time with Mommy or Daddy

Bonding with your child is an important part of parenthood. Whether you're a mommy or a daddy, spending time connecting with your child from day one is something you should add to your daily schedule.

While you can handle the time and days that work best for mommy/child and daddy/child time, we wanted to feature a variety of ideas to get you started. Below you'll find our favorite ways to connect with your children every single day.

Create a Memory Book

Add more connection time into your day by creating a beautiful memory book or scrapbook to cherish the moments.

Try Something New

Each week, make it a point to try something new with your little one. Whether you take him on an adventure walk, introduce him to his first bubble bath, or teach him how to blow bubbles, be sure to also celebrate the "small" moments—like his first laugh, or first tooth.

Get Ready for Bed Together

Set the scene for a great bedtime routine by getting ready for bed together. Try reading your little one a lullaby book, brushing teeth, and then tucking him into bed. Make sure to set the tone early that this is a special time just for the two of you.

Sing a Lullaby

There's something about lullabies that just soothe your little one to sleep, and it may even help him drift off if he's been having trouble. Sing an evening tune or lullaby to create peaceful moments right before bedtime.

Get Cozy Together

Snuggle up with your little one and enjoy a heart-to-heart. Try asking him some simple, yet thought-provoking questions like, "What was the best part of your day?" or "If you could be anywhere right now, where would you want to be?" By showing interest in his life, he'll feel more loved and connected with you.

Read a Book Together

Reading is such an important part of education, but it can also be a great way to connect. If you have trouble finding the right books to read with your little one, try going online and searching through different types of readers for different stages. You'll be sure to find something that's fun and educational all at the same time.

Read Bedtime Stories

Depending on your little one's age, you can read him fairy tales or classic stories before bedtime. Either way, the bonding time will help send him off to sleep right away. Even if he falls asleep in your arms, place him back into his crib as soon as possible so he can get the rest he needs for a new day.

Make a Memory Jar

A memory jar is an easy way to create your own collection of memories with your little one. All you'll need is a mason jar and some colorful string or yarn—once the memories are added, tie it up and place it somewhere special so you can use it as a daily reminder of how much you love your little one.

Visit a Park

One of our favorite things to do is visit the park. It's a great way to get fresh air and exercise while having fun with your little one. You can even bring along a basket full of snacks to keep everyone energized during the outing. Don't forget the camera!

Have a Play Date

Find another parent in your neighborhood to connect with on a play date. You can support each other by watching your little ones together while you chat over coffee or tea at the end of the fun date.

Practice Yoga Together

Moms, if you're looking for another way to bond with your baby, try practicing yoga together! Not only is it calming and low impact, but you'll both have fun chasing the baby around during the poses.

Give Your Little One Lots of Hugs

One of the best ways for your little one to feel secure and safe is by receiving lots of hugs. On your next outing, take advantage of every opportunity to hold hands or put him on your shoulders so he can see the world from a new perspective.

These are just a few of our favorite ways to connect with mommy and daddy every single day. Hoping you find connection time as meaningful as we do!
