Be Confident

You’ll want to be confident that traveling with young children is possible and not as difficult as you’ve told yourself. There are more options for vehicles, entertainment, and other necessities for young children traveling than ever before.

Make the decision that you will travel with your young children this year and be confident with that decision. Once the choice is made, use the below tips to make this trip the best memory-making adventure yet for your family.

Take it Slow

Young children need a bit more time to walk during their travel time. Be sure to plan ahead and take it slow. Leave extra time in between destinations or flights to ensure you’re not rushing your young children or stressing them out hurrying them along.

Don’t Overpack

While it’s nice to have extra options for your young children to stay entertained while traveling, do not overpack. There’s a high chance that you’ll be carrying at least one young child during your trip. The last thing you want to do is carry a young child and an extra ten pounds of travel gear with the child.

Pre-Book Options

Don’t forget about pre-book options that can save time and headaches during your travel with young children. Finding the activities you wish to enjoy on vacation with young children and registering for them ahead of time will reduce the time involved with waiting in long lines, something younger children don’t handle well.

Talk About the Trip

Don’t underestimate the beauty in talking about the trip with young children. Having your children involved with the steps and process of planning this vacation will get them excited. Talk to your children about activities, expectations, and what is involved with your family vacation. This will reduce anxiety and help your young children be fully prepared for all that’s involved with this travel excursion.

Pack Snacks

Don’t forget about packing snacks for your young children. The last thing you want is a hungry child in the vehicle or plane. Young children can get especially cranky when they’re overtired or their bellies aren’t full. Be sure to pack plenty of healthy snacks and drink options for your children so they never get a case of the “hangries” during your trip.
