How to Spoil Your Teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week

Every May there’s this one week that’s very special for teachers. This week is called Teacher Appreciation Week. During this week in May students, parents, and everyone else involved in a special teacher’s life shows their gratitude for the hard work and dedication teachers put into their job.

Today I wanted to share some ideas to help you spoil your teacher during this fabulous week in May. From gift cards to creative craft items, and everything in between; this is the ultimate guide for how to spoil your teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week.

How Parents Can Help Administrators Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

This week isn’t just about children showing their gratitude towards special teachers! Parents can help Administrators can put together some spectacular ideas to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, too.

Create a Theme for the Week

Develop a fun theme for the week and enter each teacher’s classroom daily with a new special gift or something fun to make them laugh. This could be a Dr. Seuss theme where each administrator takes turns dressing up as a Dr. Seuss character and enters the teacher’s classroom to say something special to them. You could make treats to go along with each day, too!

Cater a Lunch

Make plans for a festive lunch one of the days during Teacher Appreciation Week. This could be during the student’s lunchtime so that every teacher can attend or host it after hours. Have each of the administrators in your building make something special to serve during this catered lunch. Send out invitations to the teachers to see how many are willing to attend their special catered lunch.

Schedule a Massage Therapist

Another unique idea for Teacher Appreciation Week that some schools have done is to hire a massage therapist for a day. Who knows, you may find one that will volunteer for a day to celebrate teachers! Have one day during Teacher Appreciation Week be “get a massage day” where teachers can go into the teacher’s lounge to get a massage during their students’ lunchtime.

How Students Can Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

Not only can administrators make teachers feel special during this festive week in May, but students can plan to do something fun for their favorite teachers.

Plan a Week of Activities

Have a group of students work together to develop a fun set of daily activities to do. This could be similar to having a theme for the week and entering the classroom each day with a special surprise. You could also have the students work in the art room to craft up some special thank-you gifts for their favorite teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Bring in Flowers, Treats or Crafts

Another option for students to get involved with Teacher Appreciation Week is to talk with their parents about creative ideas. Students can bring in flowers, gift baskets, or treats and crafts for their teachers throughout the week. This is a great way to encourage gratitude within the children so that they grow up with a solid foundation of this life skill.

These are just some of the best ways to spoil your teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week. The key to making this week a special week for teachers is to think about what each teacher would enjoy and what type of activities or gifts that would make them feel appreciated. Then make plans to celebrate as you combine the efforts of administrators, parents, and students.
